Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 01: <\/strong>Ahmedabad witnessed an extraordinary spiritual and cultural event in the form of a grand Nagar Yatra in honour of Goddess Bhadrakali, the city\u2019s revered Nagar Devi and guardian deity. Held for the first time in over 600 years, the yatra, which coincided with Ahmedabad\u2019s Foundation Day on February 26, saw an overwhelming turnout of thousands of devotees, reaffirming the city\u2019s deep-rooted traditions and devotion.<\/p>\n

Organised by the Dharmaraksha Foundation and Mavins Marcomm, the historic procession commenced at 8:00 am from the sacred Bhadrakali Temple, drawing enthusiastic participation from devotees, religious leaders and officials. The idol of Goddess Bhadrakali was carried in a beautifully adorned chariot, accompanied by the chanting of prayers and hymns by thousands of devotees, creating a divine and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The grand yatra traversed through prominent city landmarks, including Teen Darwaza, Manek Nath Temple, AMC Office, Jagannath Temple, Mahalaxmi Temple, Ganesh Temple, Lal Darwaza, Electricity House, and Bahucharaji Temple, before culminating at Bhadrakali Temple at 12:30 pm. The event concluded with Mataji\u2019s Bhandara, a feast that welcomed all devotees, promoting a spirit of unity and celebration.<\/p>\n

Shashikant Tiwari, Founder of Dharmaraksha Foundation, said, \u201cThe Nagar Yatra of Maa Bhadrakali on Ahmedabad\u2019s Foundation Day was a momentous occasion, bringing together the city\u2019s residents in a shared expression of faith and heritage. It was heartening to witness such a large gathering taking part in the yatra and experiencing the divine blessings of Maa Bhadrakali. Ahmedabad\u2019s Mayor Pratibha Jain lauded the organisers for reviving this grand tradition, saying, \u201cThe Nagar Yatra of Goddess Bhadrakali being organised after 614 years is a historic milestone. That it coincided with Maha Shivratri and Ahmedabad\u2019s foundation day made the occasion even more auspicious. The overwhelming response from devotees highlighted the city\u2019s rich cultural and religious fabric.\u201d<\/p>\n
